Bio: I am a multidisciplinary, mixed-media artist. I work in this neighborhood (the DTES) and call East Vancouver home.
I am fascinated with urban and rural landscapes. Through my many moves as a child and teen, I developed a method of mapping out and exploring the environment around me in order to connect with the new place I was in. I was given my first camera at age 14.
I use photography to document my adventures, my process of exploring and mapping out place. My photos capture neglected spaces, places left to their own devices; places that have developed on their own, places that inhabitants engage with lending each place its own unique colour. I am fascinated by detail and marvel in beauty found in unlikely places.
On my adventures I often collect pieces of metal, boards to paint on etc. These found objects become incorporated into a visually engaging combination of paint, collage, and photographs, a living document of where I have been. I work to create visual stories that take you along, engage you in my process of unraveling my own story. I hope to inspire visitors to create their own places to unfurl.
