Vanessa Lowe is an internationally shown mixed media artist and writer whose work involves any of photography, painting, literature, text and printmaking. She takes urban images, simplifies them and applies them to unexpected surfaces, and then makes things out of them. For the 2011 PNE Container Art Show she made three small quilts which consisted of photos that her father took in the late 1940s and early 1950s for her collaboration with artist Cheryl Hunter on a travel vignette installation called Ports of Call. She is a recipient of the 2011 DTES Small Arts Grant to publish a book. Her work can be seen at the Hunter Bisset Gallery. 2011 is her second participation in the Culture Crawl.</p>
