The work of Shirley Wiebe engages drawing and sculpture, at times growing from or into the other. She has completed a number of installation projects, prototypes and developmental aspects for other site specific work while occupying this studio on Railway Street for the past five years. The Crawl gives Shirley an opportunity to share her process and smaller works with the public. Her ideas initiate through drawings and object studies that incorporate an exploration of common materials and their malleable qualities. Items such lumber, veneers, metal sheeting and mesh, screws and staples are combined to inform and express new meaning. Shirley's work for the 2012 Crawl continues her focus on the figure, exploring ways in which our bodies have domain over our lives.
