Tanis Saxby apprenticed as a carver and stone sculptor before studying at the University of Victoria and then ceramics at the Kootenay School of Arts. In 2005, she was awarded the International Residency in Ceramics in Vallauris, France, through a Canada-wide selection. Tanis has received several awards for outstanding artistic achievement and her work is in the homes of collectors throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe and has exhibited both locally and internationally. Tanis’ ceramic sculptures embody tranquility, sensuality, and stillness-in-motion. Shadows play an important role in her creative process, from conception through to the final form and presentation of her works.
