Hi my name is Richard Shorty I come from Whitehorse, Yukon, northern Tutchone clan and my band members are Kwanlin Dun (First Nation) in Whitehorse. My medium that I work with is painting West Coast Native Design. In the beginning I learned how to do wildlife and drawing human like portraits and people. I learned how to do west coast native design in 1980 and I’ve been working here downtown Vancouver for about 30 years now. I moved over to Victoria in 83 and worked with some carvers over there and learned how to carve and design and it’s been a rough trail, but I guess I survived (laughs).. Richard was one of the mural team on the 'Through the Eye of the Raven' mural on the side of the Orwell Hotel - Western Canada's Largest Mural.
