Barbara Parkin paints BC trees, marshes, and skyscapes in acrylics on large canvasses. She is self-taught as a painter and has a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from UBC. Her work has been shown local galleries, theatres and fundraising art auctions for non-profits. She has won awards from local Arts Councils, including an "Award of Excellence" from the Federation of Canadian Artists on Granville Island.
