Bio: dahlhaus ceramics was launched in 2007 by artist and painter Heather Braun-Dahl. Influenced by her abstract paintings, her painterly approach to clay referenced the lines and circular shapes that had come to mean a connecting point between the viewer and her work. Translating those shapes into patterns on her pottery, she reflects a love of mid-century patterns and scandinavian design in her handmade ceramics.
Heather Braun-Dahl graduated from Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design in 2001. She continued to pursue making pottery and to paint in small ways while having 2 boys. In 2006 after having a small show in Room6 (Deep Cove) with a new line of pottery she had developed, the idea for 'dahlhaus' was formed. Four years later and 'dahlhaus ceramics' made it's debut on the Rachel Ray Show, is being sold at Anthropologie stores across North America and online (with even some paintings being picked up for their new online gallery), and has garnered much press online and in magazines (Canadian House & Home April 2010). Each year by the Eastside Culture Crawl, Heather manages to create another collection to add onto her existing popular ceramics and this year will be no different. Please visit her studio on the ground floor of the Mergatroid Building to see her new and familiar work that so many people have come to love and use every day.
