Connie Sabo was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. She graduated from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in 2003 where she received the Governor General’s Silver Medal for Excellence. She also holds a BHE from the University of British Columbia and studied architecture at UBC and public art at the University of Washington. Her sculpture and mixed media installations are often site-specific exploring issues of cycles and sustainability as well as personal intimate relationships with the environment and the urban landscape. Connie has a passion for community engagement and has been the resident artist for several community based art projects In Vancouver, Burnaby, and New York. She is the curator of the Emily Carr Gallery at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre and serves on the board for the Emily Carr University of Art + Design Alumni Association, The Eastside Culture Crawl and the 901 Artist Cooperative in Vancouver.
